maternity and newborn pictures (thanks so much Deb for the privilege of taking photos for you)....My girl and her friends......my son (who's not real thrilled when he hears me ask "can you just let me take a few photos to practice") but who is a really great subject to photograph (if I do say so myself) and Kayla and her horses......that was a fun experience!

FALL into Photography

and its defnitely feeling like fall today but we had perfect weather for the wonderful, information packed weekend with Darwin and Samantha , lots of aha moments for me and I feel better equipped to go take landscape/nature photos and use the gear I have. A few faves from the weekend (still bummed I missed the deadline saturday for getting my fave picture in for the contest as the prizes were amazing) and a couple that I took yesterday. (note to self, don't set any gear down in tall grass and then forget where you put it, wasting an hour backtracking to find it LOL)

Ok, I really haven't gone anywhere......I've just taken a bit of a break it seems in my photo taking the past while, kids are older (one's moved out) and it seemed there was nothing "happening" to get excited about capturing on camera...... thats not to say I didn't have some great photo opportunities like my last trip to Norway or a week at the lake....but it seems getting pictures edited and printed is a big enough job (because I still love to scrapbook) without the extra time to devote to posting online somewhere, like here!

But I'm going to try and do a better job, update often and hope that I get a few more followers :)

I'm very excited about my newest piece of gear, a Canon G12!! I am loving this little dynamo because it fits in my PURSE and so I have no excuse not to have a camera with me at all times..(besides my iphone)...not that I don't still love my Rebel (gotta have that telephoto for wildlife/birds) but its just BIG. So enjoy a view through my lens.....and please leave me comments and critiques so I know someone's out there!

and theres a little highlight of the 2 weeks I spent with my mom visiting my brother and his family and touring the beautiful country of Norway.

almost a year since i updated. that is quite pathetic. Its not like i haven't been taking pictures weekly but truthfully my camera has definitely not been as active this winter/spring as in previous years. Not sure why (could it be the teenagers i have that are not real cooperative when it comes to photos perhaps? LOL) but i know summer means more pictures so i'll try and update more often.

well i didn't win the first place trophy for overall points at our local fair in the photog. section but i came second so i can't complain. Several of the pics on my blogs were entered and earned me ribbons, some of the judges decisions had me baffled but i guess thats the thing with personal preference, i look forward to next years fair with a new judge hopefully. As for sharing more photos from summer and a picture a day.........i've not been taking many lately but i'll post a few from august. My daughters sweet 16, the fair, my sons first solo plane trip, etc.

there is a challenge to take and post a photo a day over at DPS and although i take at least one picture daily i don't always download or post them but it is great just finding things to capture......trips to town are never taken without my camera cause you just never know what you might see.. so while my kids and i are at bible camp this coming week i will try and capture some interesting things with my camera - between preparing meals :)

Bugs n Blooms

It finally feels like summer....the weather has been nice and hot for swimming in the pool...the flowers are blooming in my garden and I'm having fun watching the birds.......and I got my close up filter set in the mail yesterday (along with a few other filters and a battery grip for my camera) so i'm having a good time playing with those and seeing things CLOSE UP. here ya go for the day....I took tonnes of pics over the long weekend at the Heinricks Family Reunion but haven't edited and looked through them so will be putting them up later today hopefully.

ive been spotting the gosslings out on the dugouts but always too far away to capture with my 200mm lens and see them clearly so today was the day......we snuck under the fence and discovered them hiding with mom in the reeds.

AND how cool is Mr Yellow bird.....dh discovered them at my new feeder and we have never seen any like them in the yard or around before....and they aren't in the Alberta bird book so share if you know what he is... there were 2 pairs and of course the guys were the lookers :) I hope they come back cause this was taken through the screen in a hurry..i would love another chance.

And a baby coyote pup for your viewing pleasure....isn't he cute.

A picture is worth a thousand words and its probably true, so much can be captured by a simple, single photograph and I am enjoying pursuing photography as a hobby, improving my skill, seeing the world through my viewfinder, learning about shutter speed and aperture etc etc. I am not a professional by any means (my one paid photo shoot did go well though) but I thoroughly enjoy taking pictures and through this blog want to share my PICTURES, not words, with you.

I'm so very glad to have found this site DPS where i can learn, play, chat with other photographers, and share my shots and absorb information like a sponge. I appreciate their willingness to help others learn.
